Q: Why did you make this app?
A: Ever since I got my first PalmOS device I wanted to get email read out to me while driving in to work in the mornings.
When SIri came out I was hopeful email reading and management would be just around the corner. Sadly not.
There was a dearth of any good apps, so I decided to build Speaking Email in 2015.
We applied three times to Apple for a license to build an email app on CarPlay and finally in 2019 we were approved. Speaking Email CarPlay was then built based on the learnings and experience from Speaking Email and the Apple human interface guidelines for CarPlay apps.
Speaking Email CarPlay was beta tested in late 2019 and soft launched in December 2019 as the first and only email app for CarPlay.
In mid 2020 we plan to add voice commands and dictation as an in-app purchase subscription.

What is Speaking Email CarPlay?
An app for iPhone and Apple CarPlay that reads your email out loud to you. It intelligently extracts content from emails (minus the signatures, disclaimers and threads). And it lets you action your email - archive, mark-as-read, trash, flag - using the CarPlay interface controls. It works Office 365 and Gmail email accounts, as well as most other providers including any standard IMAP server.
Who is it for?
People who are busy and run out of time to get through their inbox. People who want to make productive use of time when driving between appointments.

Is is free?
Yes it is free to download and you can do a lot with the free version. Free features:

Do I have to upgrade?
Nope, but you can upgrade for:
- Multiple accounts
- Attachment reading
- Voice commands (you will love this!)
